Let's dance!!!

Another important element of the Hip- hop culture is the dance and it is called B- boying or breakdance. The term 'Break Dance' was used by the media to the dance known as B-boying, as stated a significant number of dancers in this culture. It is thought that this name had commercial reasons, and that is why some "B-boys" prefer to keep calling the dance in its original way. It is an urban dance that brings other dances together such as Charleston, salsa, matial arts like capoeira and movements of artistic gymnastic. This dance emerged in Afro-American communities in New York's neighborhoods as the Bronx and Brooklyn in the 70's. But it achieved a higher recognition in the 80's, thanks to the influence of artists like James Brown, and movies like Breakin' and the freshest kids who spread the movement towards European countries. The people who perform this dance are called b-boy or b-girl, also called fly girl. There is a marked difference between a b-boy and a breaker: the first dances for purely cultural reasons and contribute new elements, innovating and bringing the level of difficulty to new dimensions. on the other hand the breaker is the person who dances for fashion interest only and had not  conscious of hip-hop movement. Finally this type of dance have four kinds of movements called Top Rocking, Up-Rocking that are the movements made on the upper body. Footworks are the dance steps made on the floor with hands and feet. Powermoves are continuous movements which force, turns, balance and speed are applied. And the la last one are Freezes, movements in which the B-boy "freezes" for a moment at the rythm of the music.

This is the final battle video from Fever Seoul. Fever Seoul was an online b-boy battle organized by the Seoul City Government to spread, worldwide, an appreciation for the b-boying culture in Seoul:
